Tremendous tusks. Walruses grow long ivory tusks that they use to haul themselves onto ice and to show off who's boss.

Arctic locals. They live in the cold Arctic Ocean and subarctic seas all around the North Pole.

Two kinds. There are two subspecies: the Atlantic walrus and the larger Pacific walrus.

Clam fans. Walruses love digging up clams and shellfish from the muddy sea floor with their sensitive whiskers.

Big and blubbery. As large marine mammals called pinnipeds, walruses carry thick blubber to stay warm in icy water.
