Cool facts
Cool cyan color. Uranus glows a beautiful blue-green because of methane gas in its atmosphere, which gives it that icy cyan look.
Rolling on its side. Uranus is tilted over by about 82 degrees, so it spins on its side as it travels around the Sun, almost like a rolling ball.
Coldest of all. It has the lowest temperature of any planet in the Solar System, even colder than far-away Neptune.
42-year days and nights. Because of its big tilt, each pole gets about 42 years of nonstop sunlight, then 42 years of darkness during its 84-year orbit.
Made of 'ice'. Most of Uranus is water, ammonia, and methane in a strange super-pressured state that astronomers call 'ice.'
