King of lizards. The name Tyrannosaurus rex means 'tyrant lizard king,' and it's one of the most famous dinosaurs ever discovered. People often call it T. rex for short.

Ruler of an island. T. rex stomped around western North America, which back then was part of an island continent called Laramidia.

Late to the party. It lived about 66 to 69 million years ago, during the very end of the Cretaceous period.

One of the last. T. rex was among the last non-bird dinosaurs to exist before a huge extinction event wiped them out.

Well known bones. T. rex is one of the best-represented theropods, meaning scientists have found lots of its fossils to study.
