Biggest cat. Tigers are the largest members of the cat family, with powerful, muscular bodies, big heads and huge paws.

Stripey coats. Their orange fur is covered in mostly vertical black stripes, which help them hide while hunting.

Made in Asia. Tigers are native to Asia and belong to the genus Panthera, the same group as lions and leopards.

Fingerprint stripes. Every tiger's stripe pattern is unique, a bit like human fingerprints.

Many kinds. Tigers are split into different subspecies, including mainland Asian tigers and island tigers from the Sunda Islands.
