Boys and girls. Male peafowl are called peacocks and females are called peahens. The babies are peachicks!

Dazzling tail. The male's giant, eye-spotted tail feathers fan out to impress peahens and show off how healthy he is.

Three species. There are three kinds of peafowl: two from Asia in the genus Pavo, and one from Africa called the Congo peafowl.

Chicken cousins. Peafowl belong to the same bird family as chickens, pheasants, and turkeys.
