Pocket parents. Kangaroos are marsupials, which means mother kangaroos carry their tiny babies, called joeys, in a special pouch on their belly.

Aussie natives. Kangaroos live naturally in Australia and New Guinea, and they're a famous symbol of Australia.

The big red. The red kangaroo is the largest of all kangaroo species, towering over the others.

Millions of them. The Australian government estimated about 42.8 million kangaroos lived in certain areas in 2019, down from 53.2 million in 2013.

Built to hop. Kangaroos belong to a family called Macropodinae, and their powerful back legs make them champion hoppers.
