One toe wonder. A horse actually stands on a single toe per foot, with its hoof being like a giant toenail!
Tiny ancestor. Horses evolved over 45 to 55 million years from Eohippus, a small dog-sized creature with multiple toes, first in North America.
Old friends. Humans began taming horses around 4000 BCE in Central Asia, and the practice had spread widely by 3000 BCE.
Free roamers. Some domesticated horses live in the wild as 'feral' horses, but they aren't the same as true wild horses that were never tamed.
Word treasure chest. There's a huge special vocabulary just for horses, describing their colors, markings, breeds, sizes, and ways of moving.
