Rosette spots. A leopard's golden fur is covered in dark spots grouped into ring shapes called rosettes. These patterns help it blend into the shadows and grass.
Built like an athlete. With a slender, muscular body up to 1.8 meters long plus a long tail, leopards are amazingly powerful for their size.
Part of a famous family. The leopard is one of five living cats in the genus Panthera, which also includes lions, tigers, and jaguars.
Boys are bigger. Male leopards can weigh up to about 72 kg, while females are lighter, usually up to around 43 kg.
