Seeds in fruit. Unlike other plants, flowering plants keep their seeds safe inside a fruit. The word 'angiosperm' comes from Greek words meaning 'vessel seed', because the seeds are like passengers in a protective container.
Super successful group. Flowering plants are everywhere on land. They include almost every colorful flower you see, plus fruits, vegetables, and most trees that aren't coniferous.
Fruits help spread seeds. When animals eat the fruit, they carry the seeds to new places. This clever partnership helps flowering plants spread across the world.
Ancient name change. Scientists used to call flowering plants 'Magnoliophyta', but now they call them 'Angiospermae'. Both names mean the same thing, just in different ways.
