Cool facts
What makes them endangered. Species become endangered when their homes are destroyed, people hunt them illegally, invasive species take over, or climate change makes survival harder. Any of these threats can push an animal toward extinction.
The IUCN Red List. Scientists use a special list called the IUCN Red List to track which species are in trouble around the world. It helps governments and conservation groups figure out which animals need help the most.
Laws that protect them. Many countries have made laws to save endangered species by stopping hunting, protecting their habitats, and creating special protected areas where animals can live safely.
Bringing them back. For some endangered species, scientists breed them in zoos or restore their natural habitats to give them a second chance at survival in the wild.
Racing against time. Once a species becomes endangered, we have to act fast because extinction can happen surprisingly quickly if we don't step in.
