Big and bulky. Bison are huge bovines, related to cows but much wilder. They can weigh as much as a small car!
Two living kinds. There are two species alive today: the American bison and the European bison, plus many extinct cousins from long ago.
Built-in winter coat. Their thick, shaggy fur keeps them warm enough to survive freezing, snowy winters out on the open plains.
Mighty shoulder hump. That big hump on their back is packed with muscle, helping them swing their heavy heads to push snow aside and find food.
