Pocket-sized parrot. The budgie is a small, long-tailed parrot that loves to munch on seeds. Its nickname is 'budgie' for short.

Aussie native. In the wild, budgerigars live in Australia, where they fly in big flocks.

Green and yellow. Wild budgies are green and yellow with black, scalloped markings on their back, neck, and wings.

Rainbow of colors. Pet budgies have been bred in blues, whites, yellows, and greys, some even have little crests!

Clue on the beak. You can often tell male and female adults apart by the color of their cere, the fleshy part above the beak.
