Three kinds. There are three living species of zebra: Grévy's zebra, the plains zebra, and the mountain zebra.
Horse cousins. Zebras belong to the same genus as horses and asses, all part of the horse family Equidae.
No two alike. Every zebra's stripe pattern is unique, just like a human fingerprint.
Bug blockers. Most evidence suggests their stripes help keep biting flies away.
African homes. They live across eastern and southern Africa in savannahs, grasslands, woodlands, and even mountains.
