Built to dig. Moles have short, powerful front legs with huge, shovel-like paws perfect for tunneling through soil.
Velvety fur. Their soft fur can lie flat in any direction, so they can move forwards or backwards through tight tunnels without getting stuck.
Tiny eyes. Moles have very small eyes and ears that are hard to see, since they live in the dark and don't need great vision.
Underground life. These small mammals spend almost all their time below the surface in their network of tunnels.
