Launched in 1977. NASA sent Voyager 1 into space on September 5, 1977, just 16 days after its twin, Voyager 2.

Champion traveler. It is the most distant human-made object from Earth, soaring beyond the Sun's protective bubble called the heliosphere.

Still calling home. Voyager 1 talks to Earth through NASA's Deep Space Network, sending data and receiving commands across an enormous distance.

A light-day away. By November 2026, it's expected to be so far that its radio signals take a full day to reach us!
