Always orbiting. The ISS circles Earth in low Earth orbit, whizzing around our planet again and again, way up above the ground.
Built by friends. Five space agencies from the USA, Russia, Europe, Japan, and Canada teamed up to build and run it together.
Never empty. Since November 2000, humans have lived aboard the ISS without a single break, the longest people have ever stayed in space.
Floating laboratory. Astronauts do experiments in microgravity, where everything floats, to learn things they can't study on Earth.
Biggest ever. It's the largest spacecraft humans have ever built, and one of only two working space stations along with China's Tiangong.
