Spring stars. Tulips bloom in spring and come in bright colors like red, orange, pink, yellow, and white.

Painted centers. Many tulips have a different-colored blotch deep inside, at the base of their petals (called tepals).

Bulb babies. Tulips grow from underground bulbs and come back year after year as perennial plants.

Lily cousins. Tulips belong to the lily family, making them relatives of true lilies and other pretty flowers.
