Brass family star. The trumpet is a brass instrument, meaning it's made of metal and played by buzzing your lips into a mouthpiece.

Sneaky low notes. The most common trumpet is tuned to B♭, and it actually sounds a whole step lower than the notes written on the page.

A whole family. Trumpets come in many sizes, from the tiny piccolo trumpet to the much deeper bass trumpet.
