Largest trees on Earth. Giant sequoias are the most massive trees that have ever lived, weighing more than 30 blue whales combined! These incredible giants can grow over 250 feet tall and live for thousands of years.

Native to California. Giant sequoias grow naturally only on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountains in California, where they thrive in a special environment with cool, misty air.

Planted around the world. While giant sequoias are native to just one place, people have planted them in forests and parks all over the world, where some grow successfully in similar cool climates.

Part of the cypress family. Even though they're huge, giant sequoias are actually coniferous trees related to cypress trees, they have tiny needles and cones instead of broad leaves.

Ancient and timeless. Many giant sequoias are older than 3,000 years, making them some of the longest-living organisms on the planet!
