What it is. Road racing is when drivers race cars on paved surfaces, either on special purpose-built tracks or on city streets that are temporarily closed off just for the race.
Two racing styles. Some road races happen on closed circuits that are designed just for racing, while others use regular public roads in cities that are blocked off for the competition.
How to win. Drivers compete by either completing a set number of laps in the fastest time possible, or by seeing who can do the most laps within a time limit.
Mainly North American. Road racing is particularly popular in North America, where it describes motorsport competitions held on paved road surfaces.
