Six strings strong. Most guitars have six strings, but some have twelve for an extra-rich, jangly sound.
Two hands working. One hand strums or plucks the strings while the other presses strings against the frets to make different notes.
Loud or quiet. Acoustic guitars use a hollow body to project sound, while electric guitars use pickups and an amplifier to crank up the volume.
Pick it up. Players can use their fingers or a small flat tool called a pick to strike the strings.
