Ancient sky rulers. Pterosaurs lived during most of the age of dinosaurs, from the Late Triassic all the way to the end of the Cretaceous.

First true flyers. They were the earliest backboned animals known to evolve powered flight, beating birds and bats to the skies.

One giant finger. Their wings were made of a skin membrane stretching from the ankles to one dramatically lengthened fourth finger.

Warm-blooded reptiles. Unlike many reptiles today, pterosaurs were warm-blooded, helping fuel their active, flying lifestyle.
