Hybrid gaming power. The Nintendo Switch is special because it can work three different ways: plugged into your TV like a regular console, held like a handheld device, or propped up with detachable controllers called Joy-Cons on the sides.

Released in 2017. The Nintendo Switch came out on March 3, 2017, and became one of the most successful consoles ever made, selling millions of copies worldwide.

Replaced the Wii U. The Switch was Nintendo's answer to their previous console, the Wii U, which wasn't as popular, and it competed with other gaming systems like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Joy-Con controllers. The Switch's detachable controllers, called Joy-Cons, can slide onto the sides of the screen or be used separately, letting you play tons of different games in different ways.

Amazing game library. The Switch has become home to incredible games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons that fans love.
