King of the sea. Poseidon was one of the twelve Olympian gods, ruling over the ocean, storms, and everything beneath the waves.
Earth shaker. People believed Poseidon caused earthquakes, which is why one of his nicknames was the 'earth shaker.'
Friend to horses. He was known as the tamer and father of horses, and ancient Greeks honored him as a god connected to these powerful animals.
His mighty trident. With a strike of his three-pronged spear, the trident, Poseidon could create freshwater springs gushing from the ground.
Roman twin. The Romans worshipped the same kind of sea god but called him Neptune instead of Poseidon.
