52 rocky peaks. Mount Olympus isn't just one mountain, it's a whole family of 52 peaks all connected together, with deep gorges carved between them like nature's own maze.
Nearly 3,000 meters high. The highest peak, called Mytikas (which means 'nose' in Greek), reaches 2,917 meters, making it the tallest mountain in all of Greece and one of Europe's most impressive peaks.
Between two regions. Mount Olympus sits right on the border between Thessaly and Macedonia in northern Greece, about 80 kilometers southwest of the city of Thessaloniki.
Near the Aegean Sea. The mountain is close to the Thermaic Gulf, which is part of the beautiful Aegean Sea, so you can see water views from many parts of the mountain.
Home of the gods. In ancient Greek stories, Mount Olympus was believed to be where the twelve most powerful gods lived, which is why it's such a famous and special mountain even today.
