Madagascar only. Lemurs are found in the wild only on the island of Madagascar, off the coast of Africa. They live nowhere else on the planet!
Big-eyed explorers. Most lemurs have large eyes, a pointed snout, and a long tail. Many are active at night, so their big eyes help them see in the dark.
True primates. Lemurs are primates, just like monkeys and humans, but they have a wet nose. Scientists call them 'wet-nosed' primates.
Tree dwellers. Lemurs usually live up in the trees, leaping and climbing through the forest. There are around 100 different species of them.
