Two kinds exist. There are two living turkey species: the wild turkey of North America and the ocellated turkey from Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula.
Wobbly snood. Male turkeys have a fleshy flap called a snood that hangs down from the top of their beak.
Heavyweights. Turkeys are some of the heaviest birds in their group, the galliforms, and among the largest in their home range.
Fancy males. Just like in many bird families, the males are bigger and show off fancier feathers than the females.
All-American. Turkeys are native to the Americas, living across southern, central, and eastern North America.
