Cool facts
Mostly water. A jellyfish's body is made of a jelly-like goo called mesoglea, so it's almost entirely water and has no bones at all.
Umbrella shape. The main body is shaped like a bell or umbrella, with stringy tentacles trailing underneath.
Drifting drifters. Most jellyfish float freely through the sea, though a few anchor themselves to the seabed with stalks.
No brain needed. Jellyfish have no brain, heart, or bones, yet they've survived in the oceans for a very long time.
Cnidarian cousins. They belong to a group called Cnidaria, making them relatives of corals and sea anemones.
