Flows through Shanghai. The Huangpu River winds 113 kilometers (70 miles) through Shanghai, China's biggest and busiest city. It's like the main artery of the city, connecting the ocean to inland areas.
The Bund location. The famous Bund, Shanghai's historic waterfront with grand old buildings, sits right along the Huangpu River. This is one of the most beautiful and important parts of the whole city.
Modern Lujiazui. On the other side of the river is Lujiazui, Shanghai's gleaming financial district with super-tall skyscrapers. The river creates a stunning view between old Shanghai and new Shanghai.
Major shipping route. Ships use the Huangpu River to move goods in and out of Shanghai, making it one of China's most important waterways for trade and business.
