Pretty in pink. Flamingos aren't born pink! They turn rosy from special pigments in the tiny shrimp and algae they eat.
Six species. There are six kinds of flamingos: four live in the Americas, and two live across Africa, Europe, and Asia.
One-legged stars. Flamingos often stand on just one leg, which helps them stay warm and save energy.
Wading birds. They love shallow lakes and lagoons, where they use their curved beaks to filter food from the water.
