Powerful feelings. Munch painted what he felt inside, like fear and sadness. He believed that showing real emotions in art was more important than making things look perfect.

From Norway. Munch lived in Norway and studied in Germany and France. He traveled around Europe and brought new artistic ideas back home that changed how artists thought about painting.
