Incredibly long and skinny. Chile is one of the longest countries in the world but also one of the narrowest, squeezed between the massive Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean like a ribbon wrapped around the continent.
Closest to Antarctica. Chile reaches farther south than almost any other country and is the closest nation to Antarctica, with its own special territory there.
Island collector. Chile controls many islands scattered across the Pacific Ocean, including the mysterious Easter Island with its famous giant stone statues.
Dramatic geography. The country has incredible natural variety, with the towering Andes on one side and the Pacific coast on the other, creating amazing landscapes.
18.5 million people. Chile's capital city Santiago is the biggest and busiest city, and the whole country speaks Spanish as its main language.
