Almost family. Chimpanzees and bonobos are humans' closest living relatives, sharing a huge amount of DNA with us.

Forest dwellers. They live in the forests and savannas of equatorial Africa, swinging through trees and roaming the ground.

A great ape. Chimps are medium-sized great apes, with four confirmed subspecies and a fifth one that scientists have proposed.

Two of a kind. The chimpanzee and the bonobo are the only two species in the animal group called Pan.
