One pair per segment. Centipedes have long, segmented bodies, and each segment carries exactly one pair of legs.

Never exactly 100. Despite the name, no centipede has exactly 100 legs! The number of leg pairs is always odd, from 15 pairs all the way up to 191 pairs.

Venom legs. All centipedes are venomous. They inject venom through special pincer-like front limbs called forcipules, which are actually modified legs, not fangs.

Hunters at heart. Centipedes are predators, meaning they hunt and eat other small creatures to survive.

Millipede cousins. They belong to a group called Myriapoda, which also includes millipedes and other multi-legged animals.
