Giant of birds. Ostriches are the largest birds in the world, standing tall enough to look an adult human right in the eye.

Speedy runners. Even though they can't fly, ostriches make up for it with powerful legs that can carry them at amazing speeds across open land.

African natives. The common ostrich lives across much of Sub-Saharan Africa, while the Somali ostrich is found in the Horn of Africa.

Two kinds. Scientists recognize two living species of ostrich: the common ostrich and the Somali ostrich.
