Cool facts
What is biology?. Biology is the study of all living things, like animals, plants, bugs, and even things too tiny to see. Scientists who study biology are called biologists, and they try to figure out how all these creatures live, grow, and change.
The cell is fundamental. Every living thing is made of cells, which are like tiny building blocks of life. Even though they are invisible without a special microscope, cells are the smallest part of any plant or animal that can still be alive on its own.
Genes and inheritance. Your genes are instructions passed down from your parents that tell your body how to grow and what traits you'll have, like your eye color or height. These genes are like a recipe book that makes you uniquely you.
Evolution shapes life. Evolution means that living things slowly change and adapt over millions of years to survive in their environment. This is why we have so many different types of animals and plants today, each one perfectly suited to where it lives.
Energy powers everything. All living things need energy to survive, and they get it by eating food or sunlight. Plants capture sunlight to make food, while animals eat plants or other animals to get the energy they need to move, grow, and think.
