Cool facts
Fluffy white coat. The Arctic fox grows incredibly thick, warm fur that turns white in winter so it blends perfectly with snow. This camouflage helps it hunt without being spotted by prey.
Rounded body shape. Arctic foxes have short, stocky bodies that help them keep heat inside where they need it most in super-cold places.
Perfectly pocket-sized. These foxes are small, measuring only about 46 to 68 centimeters long (roughly the length of a ruler), with a big fluffy tail to help them balance and stay warm.
Arctic homes. Arctic foxes live in the frozen tundra regions of the Northern Hemisphere, where most animals couldn't survive the brutal cold and ice.
Tough early years. Life is hard in the Arctic, and most Arctic foxes don't make it past their first year, but the lucky ones can live up to 11 years old.
