Our very own star. The Sun sits right at the center of the Solar System, and everything, including Earth, orbits around it.
Super-hot plasma. The Sun is a massive sphere of hot plasma, heated until it glows by nuclear fusion happening deep in its core.
Powers life. The Sun is the main source of energy for life on Earth, giving plants the light they need to grow.
Light and more. It mostly shines out visible light and infrared (heat), with about 10% as ultraviolet rays.
Worshipped for ages. Many cultures throughout history have honored the Sun, and astronomers have studied it since ancient times.
