Cool facts
Water rises up. Water from oceans, lakes, and rivers evaporates and turns into invisible vapor that floats high into the sky.
Droplets form and fall. When air gets cold, the water vapor condenses into tiny droplets that clump together to make clouds. When the droplets get heavy enough, gravity pulls them down as rain.
Rain feeds life. Rain brings fresh water to plants, animals, and people all around the world. Without rain, deserts would be even emptier and forests couldn't exist.
Power from rain. Rainwater flows into rivers and dams where it can be used to generate electricity for millions of homes.
Part of a cycle. Rain completes the water cycle: water evaporates from Earth, forms clouds, falls as rain, and flows back to the oceans to start all over again.
