Card game betting. Poker is all about comparing hands and wagering money or chips on whose cards are the strongest according to the game's rules.

Played everywhere differently. People play poker all over the world, but the rules can change depending on where you are, kind of like how different places have different versions of soccer.

Started with 20 cards. The earliest poker games used only 20 cards instead of the full 52-card deck we use today.

Many poker varieties. Some countries use shorter decks with 32, 40, or 48 cards instead of 52, which creates different games and strategies.

Rounds of betting. Every version of poker includes one or more rounds where players decide how much to bet based on how good they think their cards are.
