Cool facts
Burning liquid fuel. Oil lamps work by drawing oil up a fabric wick and burning it to create light, kind of like how a candle works but with liquid fuel instead of wax.
Ancient invention. People have been using oil lamps for thousands of years to light their homes and streets before electricity was invented.
The wick matters. A textile wick is the key part that soaks up the oil and carries it upward so it can burn at the tip and create a bright flame.
Still used today. Even though electric lights are common now, some people still use oil lamps for camping, emergencies, or just because they like the warm glow.
