Thunder hammer. Thor was the thunder-god who carried a powerful hammer. The Vikings believed thunderstorms were the sound of Thor at work!

Raven god. Odin was the chief god, often shown with two ravens beside him. He was famous for his wisdom and knowledge.

Beloved goddess. Freyja was a goddess linked to love and beauty, one of many deities in these tales.

Old stories. These myths come from the North Germanic peoples and were written down in medieval manuscripts, carved in stone, and passed along as folklore.

From the north. Norse mythology grew in chilly Scandinavia and is the northernmost branch of the wider Germanic myths.
