Master of the Trumpet. Louis Armstrong played the trumpet with such skill and feeling that he basically invented modern jazz. Musicians all over the world copied his style because it was so fresh and exciting.
Sang Like Magic. Even though he was famous for trumpet, his gravelly, soulful voice became just as legendary. His cheerful personality shined through every song he performed.
Won Tons of Awards. Armstrong won Grammy Awards, including one for his famous song 'Hello, Dolly!' in 1965. After he died, he won even more honors because people realized how important he was to music.
Changed All Music. His influence spread way beyond jazz, he's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame too. That shows how many different kinds of musicians he inspired.
