Cool facts
You can see it. Visible light is the only kind of electromagnetic radiation your eyes can actually detect, which is why we call it 'visible.'
A rainbow of waves. Light comes in different wavelengths from about 400 to 700 nanometres, and each length looks like a different color to us.
Super speedy. Light's frequencies are huge, around 420 to 750 terahertz, meaning its waves wiggle trillions of times every second.
Hidden neighbors. Right next to visible light are infrared and ultraviolet light, which our eyes can't see but are still there.
Part of a family. Visible light, infrared, and ultraviolet together are called optical radiation.
