Tiny computer in your hand. A smartphone combines everything a traditional phone does with the computing power of a computer. It has a touchscreen that responds to your finger, so you can tap, swipe, and pinch to control it.

Built-in camera. Every smartphone has at least one camera that lets you take photos and videos whenever you want. Many smartphones have multiple cameras so you can zoom in, capture wide views, or take special types of pictures.

GPS navigation. Smartphones have GPS technology built in, which means they can figure out exactly where you are on Earth and help you find directions to anywhere you want to go.

Games and apps galore. You can download thousands of different applications, or apps, that do everything from games and music to schoolwork and drawing. Each app is a small program designed to do one thing really well.

Connected to the internet. Unlike old mobile phones, smartphones connect to the internet wirelessly, so you can browse websites, send emails, watch videos, and chat with friends anywhere you have a signal.
