Cool facts
Triangle power. A wedge is a triangle-shaped tool that's really just a ramp (inclined plane) you can carry around. It's one of the six classic simple machines.
Splitting force. When you push on the wide, blunt end of a wedge, it changes that push into sideways forces that pop two things apart or hold something still.
Hidden everywhere. Knives, axes, nails, and even the door stopper that keeps your bedroom door open are all wedges doing their job.
Long and skinny wins. A wedge's strength comes from the length of its slope compared to its width. The longer and thinner it is, the more cutting power it has.
Built into you. Your front teeth are shaped like wedges, perfect for biting and slicing through an apple!
