Heavy metal heroes. Knights wore suits of armor that could weigh as much as a big dog! It protected them in battle but made it tricky to move quickly.
Horseback warriors. A knight's most important partner was his horse. Knights trained for years to fight while riding, charging with long lances.
A code of honor. Knights were expected to follow chivalry, a set of rules about being brave, loyal, and kind to those who needed help.
Long training. Boys often started as pages, then became squires who helped a knight, before finally earning their knighthood as adults.
Still happens today. Kings and queens still grant knighthoods as honors. Today they're given for great achievements, not just for fighting battles.
