Laws of motion. Newton described how objects move and how gravity pulls everything together in his famous book, the Principia, published in 1687.

Invented calculus. He helped create a whole new kind of math called calculus, sharing the credit with a German mathematician named Leibniz.

Light detective. Newton studied light and showed that white light is actually made of all the colors of the rainbow.

Many talents. He wasn't just one thing, he was a mathematician, physicist, astronomer, inventor, and author all rolled into one.

Father of modern science. His work shaped the scientific method and is considered some of the most influential in bringing about modern science.
