Spinning blades. A helicopter's big spinning rotors on top create both lift and thrust, letting it rise straight up into the sky.
Up and down. Unlike airplanes, helicopters can take off and land straight up and down, so they don't need a long runway.
Hovering hero. A helicopter can stop and hover in one spot in the air, and even fly forward, backward, or sideways.
Reaching tricky places. Because they don't need runways, helicopters can reach crowded cities, mountaintops, and isolated spots where airplanes can't go.
