Super old. The very first walls were built way back in the 7th century BC, more than 2,000 years ago.

Joined together. The Qin dynasty connected separate walls into one big system, and later dynasties kept making it bigger.

A giant guard. The wall was built to protect China from nomadic groups riding in from the Eurasian Steppe.

Famous Ming sections. The best-known and most beautiful parts you can visit today were built by the Ming dynasty between 1368 and 1644.
